We have a service contract on all our regular MFDs, but for a Canon iPF printer several resellers are suggesting the extended warranty.
Is there anything the warranty doesn't cover compared to a (typical wide-format) service contract, or any differences I should be aware of either way? 
What is the call-out / turnaround on the extended warranty? I presume it's on-site?

Both the standard 1 year on-site and extended warranties offered by Canon:


  1. Cover the parts and labour, but do not include consumables such as ink cartridges, maintenance cartridges or printheads.
  2. Include on-site cover.
  3. Strive for a next working day turnaround time.


Don't forget - As well as the Canon extended warranties, we also offer 'ink inclusive service agreements' which cover all of these items.

In short, you pay for service through your ink usage at a rate of 44p or 55p per ml, depending on the size of the machine you choose.
Similar to a copier toner-inclusive 'click-charge', we automatically send you replacement ink cartridges to arrive before you run out, so you don't have to buy sets of them and keep them on shelf.
